This is a community based role and you will visit service users in their own homes, walking short distances between visits or working one to one with one service user.  There are also opportunities for 'driving' visits which tend to include more complex care and we do have a company car available on some working schedules for those who do drive.

  • Pay rate of £10.50-£11.25 depending on experience

  • Enhanced overtime rate of 20% for full time staff

  • Support & fully funded SVQ2 and SVQ3: Health & Social Care

  • A range of working patterns - full time, part time and flexible 'bank' contracts

  • Paid induction training

  • £500 Bonus - Refer a friend (pro rata)

You will need to have:


  • Excellent social, communication and listening skills

  • Ability to support service users in a manner that is non-judgemental, respects their dignity and promotes their independence, choices and privacy

  • Ability to use own initiative and willing to seek guidance when required

  • Numeracy skills & good written and spoken English

  • Two references, at least one of whom is your most recent employer

  • A Disclosure Scotland PVG check, discussed upon application

  • Work in accordance with 1st Focus Homecare policies and procedures and the SSSC Code of Practice


In addition we particularly welcome applicants who have:


  • Experience of paid or unpaid care or community work

  • Enhanced understanding of issues particular to our sector including dementia care and end of life care.
